As the President of the Michigan Tactical Officers Association, I send you my sincerest apology for any misunderstandings of Officer Jason Kern's email may have caused. Officer Kern's comments are in no way a representation of the Michigan Tactical Officers Association. The MTOA is a non-profit organization that provides training and resources to the tactical community in Michigan. We do NOT get involved in politics.
I was not in attendance at the event in question and can not speak about what transpired there. The MTOA does not get involved in politics; we had absolutely no representation at that event, or any other political rally. Officer Kern was on-scene at the event representing the police agency he is employed with; he was NOT representing the MTOA.
The email in question was NOT an official MTOA correspondence.

Lots of folks that were present when this event took place know that this article if written by Jason Kerns is UNTRUE.

So I think we can now put that lie to rest. Obama is not only comfortable being photographed with uniforms, but he obviously has a great deal of support.
It has now been learned that Mr. Jason Kern is NOT a Michigan State Police officer as he originally claimed. Mr. Kern is a civilian communications supervisor for the Highland Park (Illinois) PD, which you may see for yourself here: http://www.ci.highland-park.il.us/police/numbers.html Whether this is the same Kern as posted the original email remains to be seen, but that would be quite a coincidence if there were two Kerns working for the PD.
It would be interesting and welcome to see photos of the Battle Creek event, though I have seen video. It is highly likely (approaching certainty considering video I've seen of his Secret Service detail) that for PR reasons his campaign doesn't think it's a good idea for the public to see that he travels with a small army. Some folks might stay away if they thought the event was not "safe". Possible? Maybe.
So someone should be fired for their view on something. You want to take food out of his family mouth because you have nothing better to do then to get all mad over something so stupid. Give me a break put your annoying energy into something else. Oh and next time you need the police make sure you only ask for the people that believe and see the same things you do.
