(Hermosillo, Mexico) -- At least 21 people are dead and another six injured after a massive gun battle Thursday in northern Mexico, just 12 miles south of the Arizona border. Mexican officials say the clash happened in the northern state of Sonora and involved rival drug and migrant trafficking gangs. A spokesman for the state prosecutor's office, said investigators don't know what triggered the shoot out, but the country's cartels routinely battle for the smuggling routes used to get cocaine into the U.S. More than 26-thousand people have died in drug violence across Mexico over the past three-and-a-half years.
